Night Wolf – A teenager discovers on his 18th birthday that he was born a werewolf and is reluctantly thrown into a supernatural war.

I am the creator, writer and letterer of “Night Wolf.” It’s been my dream since I was a kid to be in the comic book business. When I was 14-years-old, I wrote fan fiction for the X-Men and submitted it to Marvel in hopes that Stan Lee would read it. Someone from Marvel was nice enough to write back to me saying that Stan loves to hear from his fans and encouraged me to keep up my writing. As naive as I was at the time, it spread my passion for the business like a wild fire. I went to art school for Graphic Design and Animation at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, hoping my education would land me a job at Marvel. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, but my passion never wavered. I have been working on “Night Wolf” since I was 16-years-old. The story and the characters have grown up with me, evolving into the amazing tale that it is today.

“Night Wolf” Synopsis

Since the beginning of creation the Natural Plain of Existence has been a breeding ground for beings of light and darkness from the Celestial Plains of Existence. Beyond what mankind knows, or what they think they know this world is shared by the natural and the supernatural offspring of these “Celestial” beings. Due to mankind’s inability to comprehend the dealings of more powerful beings, these hidden races and creatures have merely fallen into legend yet they continue to walk among the human race veiled from plain sight. The marvels of pure light and trepidation of true darkness are more than the average human mind can bear…

As old as the point of creation is the struggle between the agents of light battling against the forces of darkness. In these modern times when the morality line between good and evil has been blurred, behind the scenes a never-ending ancient war continues to rage on threatening all inhabitants of the Natural Plain of Existence.

Among the unseen are the Lycanthropes, a race of magical creatures more commonly known as werewolves, whom have been around since before written history. They live in packs hidden all over the world, each with a unique breed and culture. These Lycanthropes worship nature and their pagan deities. There is however an outcast monotheistic breed, known as the Monoki. The Monoki themselves are divided into two distinct groups. There are the benevolent Purebreds, white pelted Lycanthropes who serve God’s will. And there are the malevolent Mongrels, whose hearts are as black as their pelts. They obey Lucifer’s diabolical bidding.

This story begins with Rodney Marcelli, a high school senior from a wealthy family, whose eyes are for the first time opened to the full wonders and horrors of the world. Living the teenage dream, Rod had everything – popularity, a beautiful girlfriend, and a full-ride football scholarship to college of his choice. But on the night of his 18th birthday Rod loses everything and everyone he cares about as his old life is ripped away from him forever. Rod now a victim of fate discovers that he was born a Monoki, and is reluctantly thrown into the ancient war threatening to consume the world.

Unlike the other members of his breed Rod displays traits that are not entirely Purebred nor entirely Mongrel, but something else altogether…

With the help of Snow Paw the Pureblood Monoki and the Supernatural Evil Slayer Night Hunter, Rod must learn to master his newly found lycanthropy and mysterious kinetic energy power that only he possesses. All while struggling to keep his soul from the conflict within, Rod must fight against the Dark Covenant, an evil army of supernaturals in order to avenge the deaths of his friends and family, and save the girl he loves from the master vampire, Lord Malice.

What were 3 comics that really inspired you growing up?

It’s hard to really narrow it down to just three comic titles. I have a large collection that has been growing since before I could even read. I remember starting out with Batman comics and had some Incredible Hulk comics after watching the cartoons on VHS. After that I then moved onto Spider-Man for a while until I discovered Wolverine while watching the X-Men pilot Pride of the X-Men in the late 80s. I immediately gravitated toward Wolverine and was obsessed with the character.

At the time I didn’t realize what DC or Marvel was, I just knew the heroes and their individual cartoons and comics. One day I was sitting with all my comics and I saw the Marvel logo on the Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine and X-Men comic books. I started to put it together that they were all made by Marvel and after reading some crossover issues that these characters live in the same universe together and it blew my mind. I thought that was the most amazing thing ever.

In elementary school I was struggling in school because of my A.D.D. and dyslexia. My mom made a deal with me to encourage me to try harder on my reading. If I did well in school and improved my reading I would get 3 comic books a week. I remember struggle late at night trying to get my homework done, but I have to say thanks to my mom it worked quite well and paid off. During that time I collected mostly Wolverine, X-Men and Spider-Man. However, there was the occasional comic from another title that would pick up here and there, but always went back to my defaults.

Even though I didn’t get a lot of the Batman comics at the time I still enjoyed watching the Batman Animated Series from the early 90’s. I just loved those stories and the Batman villains are the most interesting antagonists. The only rivals would be Spider-Man’s gallery of villains. I thought these villains were all well crafted as characters. And to this day I think the best Joker is any Joker voiced by Mark Hamill.

Anyway, now that I when off on a tangent, I would have to say any Wolverine or X-Men comics written by Chris Claremont and art by Jim Lee are my most influential comic books. Then followed by Bruce Timm’s Batman and Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man.”

Comic books have been a very influential during my life. I started collecting comics even before I was able to read them. Growing up I wanted to be a comic book writer. I have been creating my own characters and writing comic book stories since I was in junior high school.

In senior high school I start the early drafts of my Night Wolf comic book series. As I got older and matured so did the Night Wolf story arc and it evolved into the amazing story it is today.

Comic books inspired me to get a degree in art. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Applied Media Arts with concentrations in Graphic Design and Computer Animation from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Also, I have completed the Web Design Diploma program at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Since October 2006 I have been working in the Digital Marketing Industry. My areas of focus is in web development, graphic design, social media management and email marketing for companies such as PPG Industries Inc., CombineNet Inc. and Quaker Steak & Lube – Best Wings USA Inc.

Now I’m a proud family man with a wife and two kids. I still dream of being an accomplished comic book writer. This kickstarter campaign will help me realize that dream. Thank you for you support!
